At a moment of grave danger (no pun intended) we can do better

Imagine a new way forward

The Harris-Walz team has presented an inspiring economic planthat includes lowering grocery and prescription drug prices, reducing the cost of energy, cutting taxes for working people, and offering tax credits to small businesses.

Harris and Walz will lead with decency and respect for everyone, even as we work through inevitable differences. It’s time to come together in a bipartisan way. Think of the immigration compromise that came so close to passing, until the con man stepped in and scuttled it.

The other guy promises a “bloody story”

Trump’s closing argument, besides incoherence, centers on his plans to attack people. Not only migrants, but lawyers, election officialsjournalists, and members of Congress who opposed him. “He certainly falls into the general definition of fascist,” his former chief of staff, retired Marine general John Kelly, said last week.

To put all this into practice, The America First Policy Institute, an adviser to the Trump team, has developed over 300 executive orders so Trump can hit the ground running. The witches’ brew of orders and plans, include:

  • Draconian new hurdles to abortion
  • Taxing the poor more and the rich less
  • Undoing much of the government’s climate work, in favor of oil and gas
  • Turning civil servants into “at-will” employees at the mercy of Trump
Kamala Harris’ closing argument is a must see. “We have the power to turn the page and start writing the next chapter in the most extraordinary story ever told.”

We’re not going back

Kamala Harris, by contrast, represents civil discourse, something that’s been upended once again in this election cycle by the con man. As our Congressman Jim Himes noted last week, “The first thing I look for in a leader is the ability to listen, and the second is humility.” We can all agree Trump is neither. His utterances invariably produce stress and concern at every turn.

Aspire to a brighter future, not a Halloween horror story

We don’t want a president who’s only out for himself, we need a president who will be there for all Americans. Only you can make that happen. Vote either on Election Day, next Tuesday, November 5th at your regular polling location, or vote early at Town Hall, November 1-3 between 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

Voting for Democrats doesn’t make you a Democrat. It makes you a patriot.

Growing our middle class. Protecting our democracy. Preventing gun violence. Defending reproductive freedom. We offer solutions, not division.

So, don’t forget to vote for our down ballot Democratic state representatives Rachel Khanna, Steve Meskers and Hector Arzeno, who have cut income taxes, adhered to fiscal guardrails, and protected local control; plus Nick Simmons, Democratic candidate for state Senate. Not one of their Republican opponents, by the way, has repudiated Trump.

Why are you voting for Democrats this November?

Greenwich neighbors weigh in

“America is already great. That’s why I’m voting Democratic.”

Rose Nichols, Greenwich
