It matters now more than ever. Every race in this election will be close.

State Senate candidate and young father Nick Simmons will add to their impact, thanks to his background in elementary education, executive branch experience in Hartford and D.C., and Greenwich roots.

Our candidates on Row A have a record of success

Combining hard work, trustworthiness across the political divide, and compassion for us—their constituents—our state representatives achieved inspiring successes for all of us.

They delivered the largest income tax cut in Connecticut history, including more retiree income exempted from state tax, an extension of the car tax cap, and property tax credits for homeowners.

They took action to expand and protect reproductive freedom, because it’s no longer enough to just say you’re “pro-choice”. Now that Republicans on the Supreme Court have struck down this fundamental right, you have to show it in what you do.

They broke with their party to preserve local zoning control.

They brought home millions in taxpayer dollars for school children, including for school lunches, special education, and a new Central Middle School.

They secured construction funds to fix traffic bottlenecks; make our sidewalks accessible; put a new roof on Parsonage Cottage, an assisted living facility for seniors; renovated the Boys & Girls Club; and delivered other funding for our local nonprofits.

They tightened gun safety laws, and were described as “champions of gun violence prevention” by CT Against Gun Violence

It’s not just who you vote for as president that matters

If you haven’t paid attention to the candidates in this pivotal election beyond the presidential race, please consider their record of compassion, accomplishment, and promise. Select the candidates on Row A to represent you in Hartford: Representatives Steve Meskers, Hector Arzeno, Rachel Khanna, and state Senate candidate Nick Simmons. They’ve shown through their actions that they care about doing what’s right for you and our community.

Republican gaslighting on reproductive freedom

Republican candidates Ryan Fazio and Tina Courpas are claiming to be pro-choice. But here’s what they’re not telling you.

Both oppose the major reproductive freedom bill that passed in CT in 2022. That bill increased access to abortion in our state by allowing, in addition to physicians, certain specialized advanced practitioner nurses and midwives to perform medication and non-surgical abortions in the first trimester. Fifteen other states allow this practice and it’s endorsed by the experts in the field, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, because it is safe.

Yet Fazio and Courpas believe they know better. Their opposition is why not a single organization defending women’s rights has backed either of these candidates. If you want more than lip service for reproductive freedom, vote for the Democratic candidates.
