Erickson an Advocate for Students, Would Be a Great First Selectman

Letter to the Sentinel from Blakely Stinebaugh

To the Editor,
I have known and volunteered alongside Laura Erickson for nearly 2 decades and I am very excited about her running as First Selectperson. Though her work for our town has been extensive, serving on the Representative Town Meeting, as chair of the Board of Education and now as a member of the Board of Estimate and Taxation, what is truly impressive is her advocacy for the students and families of Greenwich.

I met Laura as a volunteer at Eastern Middle School and we later served on the Greenwich High School PTA Board together and our paths crossed again volunteering for the Greenwich Alliance for Education. We both support the importance of educational opportunities for students of all abilities and talents. And we both served in a hands-on fashion, interacting with students and their families on a one to one basis. Laura is a strong advocate for public school education because she knows it is a driver for a healthy community.

She is a consummate professional and is also approachable. With her background, personality and strong belief in educational equality for every student, she will be a passionate and highly effective First Selectman.

Respectfully, Blakely Stinebaugh
