The Greenwich Fire Department was without a ladder truck for a period of time a couple weeks ago and had to scramble to make arrangements with the city of Stamford for coverage. Since then the repairs have been made and we have a ladder truck back in service. But, this is Greenwich. We shouldn’t operate this way.
We find ourselves in this precarious position because Republicans on the town finance board, the Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET), have been denying and deferring critical equipment requests from our police and fire chiefs for years.

We need a better pedestrian safety plan for Greenwich Avenue
The First Selectman took the police officers off Greenwich Avenue without a plan in place for pedestrian safety. Right now, no one knows what to do. It’s chaotic and it’s dangerous. Instead, the First Selectman is talking about lighting up water fountains in the plaza. Those aren’t priorities. We need to address priority projects.
